Consultation

Consultation services include:

  • One time training or consultation about challenging presenting issues
  • Weekly or monthly consultation on a regular basis
  • A series of consultation sessions in order to be trained in a specific treatment or to work on a specific issue

I am available for consultation (fee negotiable) for other mental health providers. As an Associate Professor in the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and as a Staff Psychologist at the VA San Diego, I have been heavily involved in providing clinical training and consultation.  I have trained dozens of therapists at various levels of training (graduate students, interns, postdoctoral fellows, psychiatry residents), and am excited to be able to provide high-quality consultation to therapists in the community.  I am passionate about helping therapists to provide evidence-based but flexible, individually-tailored, and culturally-informed treatment.

I have particular expertise within the realm of PTSD and its comorbidities, especially comorbid substance use disorders, presentations of prominent traumatic guilt (i.e., shame, moral injury), and insomnia.  I can provide training in the following modalities: Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Concurrent Treatment of PTSD and Substance Use Disorders using Prolonged Exposure (COPE), and Trauma-Informed Guilt Reduction Therapy (TrIGR).  I can provide consultation on the implementation of these treatments with complex and challenging clinical presentations.

I also provide consultation in the delivery of cognitive- behavioral therapy (CBT) more generally, and can consult about how to incorporate other modalities (e.g., acceptance-and mindfulness-based approaches, dialectical-behavioral therapy skills) within CBT.

I genuinely love consulting with other therapists!  Please reach out with any questions.
